About Rod and Debbie, et. al

Back in January of 2009, I wrote a short piece of fiction called "The Saga of Rod and Debbie - A very short story". At the time, I'd intended it to be just that single post. Frankly, I wrote it because I couldn't think of anything else to blog about.

Writing that first post was fun and a story soon developed around it. This was great because it gave me regular blog entries. Plus, I enjoyed and appreciated the kind and supportive comments from my loyal readers (few in number but great in spirit). After all, I mostly do this just to solicit ego-stroking praise.

After the first story ended, my readers began clamoring for more. Well, it may have been that I once again ran out of regular material. Whatever the reason, a sequel was soon underway, called "The Transformation of Rod". This story was a bit lengthier and hopefully better formed than its predecessor.

Writing these things takes more effort than my normal posts. Because of this, I resolved to return to regular posting after the completion of the sequel. I kept this resolution for awhile but my readers (one more than others) again petitioned for another tale (I think it may be that they just want to keep me from my regular posts about urinal cakes and the like). At any rate, I finally decided to give it another go. I think the trilogy is a popular format, so I'm on board with it.

As with the other stories, I have only a vague idea as to where the plot will go. Once I post, my direction is set. I often look back and wish I had written something differently but if it's posted, I don't change it. In that sense, my characters are bound by some of the same rules we live by.
